A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state and an aspirant of the party in the forthcoming governorship election, Chief Olusola Oke, said he will give priority to agriculture and job creation in administering the state if elected.
Oke, who stated this during his campaign tour to Okitipupa local government area of the state, emphasized that his administration will give attention to job creation, particularly within the agricultural sector.
He said this is aimed at providing employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths who have an interest in agriculture.
According to him, there is a need to reposition the agricultural sector, especially in cocoa production, noting that Ondo used to be the main producer of cocoa in the country.
The foremost governorship aspirant pledged to re-engineer agriculture in the state and deploy it to solve unemployment and poverty problems if he can secure the party ticket and eventually be elected in the November 16 gubernatorial election.
He promised to revive and reposition the cocoa sector and elevate the state and country among the comity of cocoa-producing nations.
He stated that giving adequate attention to the agriculture sector will discourage food insecurity while support will be given to farmers to alleviate suffering and reduce unemployment.
Oke urged all the executive members of the party not to be deceived by politicians who were moving around to deceive them with money, saying, “Don’t vote against your conscience.”
Oke said, “I appreciate you all for the gesture and love. Be guided and never be deceived by politicians who were not with you during your suffering in the past, but are now coming to buy your votes.”
Oke, while meeting with the APC unit, ward, and local government leaders, as well as members from all the 13 wards in Okitipupa council area of the state at the Idepe-Okitipupa town hall, assured them of a new Ondo state.
