The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Jigawa State has warned the citizens against overcrowding and high temperatures in the environment to prevent the spread of cerebrospinal meningitis.
The agency made the warning through its director in the state, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, in a press statement issued, signed and made available to the Online Tribune by the public relations officer for the agency, Miss Sera Ogodo.
The statement advised the people to be cautious of their safety by making sure that their environment is well-ventilated to forestall the incidence of meningitis in the state.
According to the statement, “In view of the cases of meningitis recorded in Jigawa and neighbouring states where the outbreak has caused many households in Harvard,”.
Mr Ahmed Ibrahim said that meningitis can cause serious complications and can quickly become life-threatening.
The NOA Director therefore urged citizens to practice good hygiene and avoid high temperatures, especially when sitting in airy environments.
While urging the Muslim faithful to utilise the Ramadan season to embrace the values of care, compassion, generosity, and unity, the state director also emphasised the need to use the fasting period to pray for the nation.
