The Nigerian Young Professionals for Equity (NYPE) has commended the nomination of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, into the committee for the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.
Senator Akpabio, in a statement issued by the General Secretary of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) to the General Secretary of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU), Mr Martin Chungong was designated to be in the Preparatory Committee for the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.
Responding to the feat, National President of NYPE, Dr Akpan Jameson, described the nomination as a testament to the legislative prowess of the former Akwa Ibom governor.
He commended the Niger Deltans for maintaining peace and stability in the region while also assuring a nation where all regions are fully represented in governance.
According to him, Senator Akpabio is an icon of truth and good governance who is known for promoting national cohesion and supporting the renewed hope agenda of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu through quality legislation.
He said, “We, as Nigerian Young Professionals for Equity reaffirmed our confidence in the ability of Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for he stands for equity, transparency and justice. His nomination into the Committee for the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament attests to his legislative competence.
“The people of Nigeria and especially the South-South are blessed to have a man like Senator Akpabio as the 10th Senate President because his pedigree and his capability to deliver and handle the responsibilities of a higher office such as the Senate Presidency are never in doubt. Therefore, Nigeria is blessed to have the former governor as the Senate President.”
Vice-President of the group, Mallam Muhammad Salau commended the courage of Senator Akpabio while also appreciating the leadership of the Senate for standing on the side of truth, fairness and justice.
He said, “We know the antecedent of the Senate President. He is unbiased when it comes to issues affecting Nigerians, particularly women and youths. We therefore dissociate ourselves from any campaign of calumny against Senator Akpabio.
“We encourage all Nigerians to support the Senate President as he joins hands with the executive to achieve the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu for the betterment of Nigerians.”

The General Secretary of the group, Emeka Chiko urged Senator Akpabio to continue to use his office to ensure that no part of the country is left behind in the renewed agenda of Tinubu’s presidency.
He also expressed optimism that Akpabio with his current office will bring infrastructural development to all regions.
Also speaking, the Publicity Secretary, Idowu Abiodun reminisced on the tenure of Senator Akpabio as a two-term governor of Akwa Ibom.
He said, “Senator Godswill Akpabio is one of the few past governors whose achievements cannot be equated.
“During his tenure, Akwa Ibom built one of the best government houses in the whole of the federation. Talking about roads, his administration constructed quality roads which are still standing till today.
“Even as a Senator, within the space of nine months, he has performed beyond expectations. A detribalised Nigerian, Senator Akpabio is a good example of an astute political leader.
“Akpabio is complementing the President’s effort to bring development to the country with the approval for the construction of coastal roads across several states. What more can I say than to urge all Nigerians to cooperate with the government for a better and more prosperous Nigeria.”
