One person was reportedly killed while many others injured as Yoruba youths and Hausa traders clashed at the Oluwole Market in the Ogba area of Lagos State on Friday.
Though the cause of the clash was yet to be ascertained as at Friday evening, sources said that the crisis started Thursday night.
The deceased person, simply identified as Abbey, was said to have been injured during the clash on Thursday night.
The clash not only created serious tension in the area but also caused traffic gridlock around Ogba, Aguda, Odo eran and other parts of the area.
A resident of Ogba, who simply identified himself as Christopher, said “We just got the information on Thursday night that we should stay away from the Oluwole Market area.
“We thought that everything had been settled but today, they started again and started throwing different dangerous objects at one another.”
“Many people, who had earlier opened their shops quickly closed their shops but they have opened now.”
Continuing, Christopher said “It took the intervention of policemen from the RRS (Rapid Response Squad) to douse the tension.”
Meanwhile, possible efforts to get reaction from the spokesperson, Lagos state Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, were futile as of the time of filing this report.
