The government under the leadership of Kogi Governor, Alha Ahmed Usman Ododo is working resolutely to cushion the effect of rising cost of foodstuffs, poverty, and inflation.
The Special Adviser on Media to the Kogi State Governor, Hon. Ismail Isah disclosed this at a One-Day Media Training On Human Rights and Social Inclusion organised by Stallion Times for the Media in Kogi.
The workshop which was funded by MacArthur had participated Journalists selected from across Print, Electronic, and Social Media Platforms.
The Special Adviser said the Government is not unmindful of the challenges of the cost of living in society owing to the economic downturn.
He assured that the present economic challenges faced by Nigerians would soon be over as all hands are on deck at all levels of government to bring succour to the citizenry.
He also mentioned that the administration of Governor Ododo is resolved to cushion the impact of the downturn in the economy, said as part of the administration’s short-term measures to cushion the effect of rising cost of food stuffs, the State Government would in the few days flag off the distribution of Palliatives amongst other measures.
The present administration, the Special Adviser disclosed, would rely on dialogue mechanism in delivering good governance to the people.
The Special Adviser Media assured of the involvement of Community, Traditional, and Religious leaders in dialogue that would sustain its peaceful status, and assured of more coordinated approach that would involve all shades of citizens of the State in governance.
Hon. Ismail added that the present administration of Gov. Ododo would sustain and build on the legacies of the present administration.
He assured that the feat achieved in the previous administration where the Youths, Women, and Persons with disabilities occupied vantage positions in leadership would be sustained and improved upon.
While soliciting the support of the media in propagating the efforts of the present administration, the Special Adviser solicited teamwork and collaboration.
The Chief Executive Officer of Stallion Time Media Services, Mallam Isiyaku Ahmed in his opening speech said Journalists should at all times strive to do stories on gender equality and be crusaders of human rights through their professional social responsibility functions to the citizens.
He enumerated the objectives of the training which includes; appreciating conditions for gender equality, social inclusion, and development via giving the sector adequate publicity and promotion as well as advocating for human rights and social inclusion through news coverage.
According to Isiyaku; “The Workshop is also aimed at instituting a dialogue mechanism on the collaborative Media Engagement for development inclusion and accountability (CMedia) Project”
He expressed optimism that at the end of the training, participants would have been equipped with necessary knowledge, techniques, and strategies for evoking abandoned human rights and social inclusion stories that were for a long time neglected.
