The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed a total sum of N4,816,227,915.56 billion to the six area councils and other stakeholders as statutory allocation for the month of December 2023.
This amount represents a slight increase compared to the N4,729,281,486.64 billion shared in November 2023.
Dr Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, presided over the 185th Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting and expressed satisfaction with the synergy between the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) and the Area Council authorities regarding waste collection and management.
Regarding the report submitted by the FCT Primary Health Care Board, the minister urged the board to expand its scope beyond routine immunisation, emphasising that drugs and personnel should also receive adequate attention.
A breakdown of the figures released during the JAAC meeting indicates that N2,364,151,892.54 billion was made available for distribution to the six area councils, while N2,452,076,023.02 billion was made available to other stakeholders, totalling N4,816,227,915.56 billion.
Distribution to the six area councils shows that the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) received N549,980,396.03 million, Gwagwalada got N371,095,234.30 million, and Kuje received N402,341,400.14 million. Bwari Area Council received N364,674,660.98 million, Abaji got N313,335,126.30 million, and Kwali received N362,725,074.79 million, totalling N2,364,151,892.54 billion disbursed to the six area councils.
On the other hand, distribution to other critical stakeholders includes N2,069,585,348.67 billion for primary school teachers, N226,478,989.57 million for 15 per cent pension funds, N48,162,279.15 million for one per cent training funds, and N107,849,405.63 million for 10 per cent employer pension contributions, totalling N2,452,076,023.02 billion.
Those present at the 185th JAAC meeting included the most senior Director in FCTA, Mr Samuel Atang; Mandate Secretary Area Council Services, Hon. Bitrus Garki; Director of Funds, Mrs Anthonia Unigwe; and the Director of Finance and Administration in the Area Council Secretariat, Mrs Omolola Olanipekun. Additionally, the chairpersons of the area councils were also in attendance.
