The Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council of Taraba State, Dauda Samaila, has denied circulating social media reports alleging a campaign enforcing due process on Tiv villages and urging returning refugees to comply with specific protocols.
In an official statement released Wednesday to journalists in the state, the council boss dismissed the claims, insisting that there has never been any consideration for such measures against returning refugees.
He attributed the spread of misinformation to individuals with malicious intentions to create discord between the Jukuns and Tiv communities in Taraba.
He said the Local Government Council has called on the public to dismiss any attempts to disrupt the existing peaceful coexistence in the region,
underlining the LG’s dedication to maintaining peace and harmony.
The chairman reassured the communities of the LG’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties, aligning with the policies of Governor Agbu Kefas.
“Since assuming office, we have consistently worked towards sustaining peaceful coexistence in Wukari and its environs,” Samaila said.
