Michael Onyeachor, co-founder of Besitz Group, has won the 2026 Africa Laureate Award in the Best Self-Help Book category for his publication, Rags to Riches; the African Way.
The award recognises the book’s literary quality, originality and contribution to contemporary literature, particularly its message on personal growth, resilience and the pursuit of success within the African context.
In a notification to Onyeachor on Saturday, the organisers said the publication distinguished itself through its creativity, artistry and contribution to contemporary literature.
The notification read, “It is with immense pleasure that we communicate the decision of the judging panel: your book, Rags to Riches; the African Way has been named a Winner of The Africa Laureate Award.
“This distinction is conferred only upon books that demonstrate exceptional artistry, creativity, and a profound commitment to the craft of writing.
“Your book stood out to our panel of judges as a vital contribution to contemporary literature, and it is a profound honour for us to welcome you into the T.A.L.A. laureateship.”
Reacting to the recognition, Onyeachor accepted the award and expressed delight that the motivation behind writing the book had resonated with the organisers and judges.
He said the recognition was particularly encouraging because of the message and purpose that inspired the publication, which seeks to share lessons about overcoming limitations and pursuing success within the African experience.
Rags to Riches; the African Way explores the journey from humble beginnings to success, highlighting the roles of resilience, personal development and determination in overcoming challenges.
The recognition adds a literary dimension to Onyeachor’s professional career in the real estate industry, where he serves as co-founder of Besitz Group, a company involved in property development in Nigeria.
As part of the award, Onyeachor received an official digital certificate and an updated version of the book cover featuring the T.A.L.A. Gold Medallion.
The organisers said the updated cover could be shared ahead of the award’s global recognition.
The certificate identifies Onyeachor as the 2026 winner in the Best Self-Help Book category, describing the achievement as an outstanding literary accomplishment and a meaningful contribution to the literary world.
The award highlights the growing intersection between entrepreneurship and authorship, with business leaders increasingly using books to share experiences, ideas and lessons aimed at inspiring others.
For Onyeachor, the recognition represents an endorsement of the central message of Rags to Riches; the African Way and its contribution to conversations about success, personal development and the African experience.
