Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, was on target as Galatasaray recorded a commanding 4-0 away victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Friday.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 12th minute, heading home a cross from Gabriel Sara to give the visitors an early advantage at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium.
Yunus Akgün doubled Galatasaray’s lead in the 28th minute with a powerful effort before Sara added the third in the 31st minute.
Aleksey Batrakov increased the advantage in the 49th minute, while Rafael Leão converted a penalty in the 55th minute to complete the 4-0 victory.
The result extended Galatasaray’s winning run following their 2-1 victory over city rivals Fenerbahçe in Monday’s Istanbul derby, in which Osimhen scored twice.
The Nigerian striker, who had eight league goals before Friday’s encounter, took his tally to nine in the competition this season.
The victory further strengthened Galatasaray’s position at the top of the league table, having entered the match with 22 points from nine matches.
PUNCH Online reported that Osimhen was also instrumental in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Fenerbahçe in the Istanbul derby on Monday, October 26, scoring both goals to secure the bragging rights for the Turkish champions.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a powerful finish after combining with Barış Alper Yılmaz before doubling the lead in the 44th minute with a header off a rebound from Davinson Sánchez’s effort.
His brace proved decisive as Galatasaray held on for the victory despite İrfan Can Kahveci pulling one back for Fenerbahçe in the 62nd minute.
