… reaffirms commitment to justice for victims
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged defilement involving girls aged nine, 10 and 11 across the state.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, and made available to journalists on Thursday, the command said the cases highlighted the vulnerability of children and the need for collective vigilance.
“These cases, involving innocent girls aged 9, 10 and 11, are a painful reminder of the vulnerability of our children and the urgent need for collective vigilance.”
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over the incidents and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring that those responsible faced the law.
The first case was reported on October 12, 2026, at the Tilden Fulani Division in Toro Local Government Area by a mother who alleged that a 47-year-old man, Auwal Ibrahim, of Unguwar Sarkin Hausawa, lured her 11-year-old daughter into a narrow passage with N500 and had carnal knowledge of her.
The girl was taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical attention. The suspect initially denied the allegation, while detectives visited the scene and began efforts to ensure justice.

In the second case, a woman from Gwallameji, Bauchi, reported at the E-Division on October 13, 2026, that her nine-year-old daughter had allegedly been lured into the room of 35-year-old Sabitu Muhammed, who was accused of having carnal knowledge of the girl on several occasions.
The police arrested the suspect and took the victim to the police clinic in Bauchi for medical examination and support. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The third case was reported on October 13, 2026, at the B-Division in GRA, Bauchi, by a 40-year-old woman from Wuntin Dada.
She alleged that her 10-year-old daughter, who had been sent to buy sugar that evening, was intercepted on her way home by 22-year-old Anas Adam, a resident of the same neighborhood, who allegedly took her to his house and defiled her.
Detectives visited the scene, while the girl was taken to the police clinic for medical examination. The suspect was also arrested.
The Commissioner of Police condemned the alleged acts, describing them as inhumane, barbaric, and an assault on shared humanity.
He assured the victims and their families that the command would conduct thorough investigations and pursue prosecution to ensure justice.
Aliyu also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to monitor children closely and promptly report suspicious behavior or cases of abuse to the nearest police station.
“The protection of our children is a collective responsibility,” he said.
