The Bauchi State Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing issues affecting the well-being and health of women and children in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Women and Child Development, Hajiya Talatu Musa Gar, stated this while receiving an advocacy visit by Women Child Youth Health and Education Initiative (WCY) on the full implementation of the Child Protection Law.
The Permanent Secretary assured the organisation of the ministry’s readiness to work with any organisation committed to improving the welfare of women and children in the state.
The advocacy visit was aimed at seeking the support of the Ministry of Women and Child Development towards strengthening the full implementation of the state’s Child Protection Law.

The State Senior Programme Officer of WCY, Kamal Ali Bello, made the call during the visit, saying the ministry, having been at the forefront of the domestication and assent of the law, had the necessary capacity to ensure its full implementation.
Kamal Bello advocated the constitution of an implementation and monitoring committee, as provided for under the Child Protection Law, to ensure effective tracking of its implementation at all levels.
He also said the organisation was committed to ensuring the return, retention and completion of education by adolescent girls who had dropped out of school due to marriage or other reasons.
Kamal Bello acknowledged the state’s out-of-school index, saying WCY, with funding support from Malala Fund, was committed to improving the situation through the enrolment, retention and completion of out-of-school children, as well as the re-entry of adolescent girls who had dropped out of school.
