The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Ajibola Basiru, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their roles in the ongoing Osun governorship election.
Basiru gave the commendation on Saturday after casting his vote alongside his wife, Mrs Abibat Basiru, at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area.
The APC national secretary joined other voters across the state participating in the governorship poll.
Addressing journalists after voting, Basiru praised INEC for the early arrival of election officials and materials at polling units, describing the commission’s preparations as satisfactory.
He also applauded residents of the state for coming out to vote, saying the turnout reflected the electorate’s commitment to democratic governance and participation in the electoral process.
Basiru further commended security agencies for maintaining order during the exercise. According to him, the deployment of security personnel has helped ensure a peaceful environment at polling centres across the state.

He said the exercise had so far been peaceful and without major challenges, expressing confidence that the election would remain free, fair and credible. He also called on all stakeholders to continue promoting peace throughout the process.
The APC chieftain expressed optimism about his party’s chances in the election, stating that he expected the APC to secure victory when the final results are announced.
Meanwhile, voting continued in several parts of Osun State under heavy security presence, with residents turning out at polling units to cast their ballots peacefully.
