THE Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, has visited the Minister of Finance, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
The engagement centered on fiscal incentives and strategic collaboration required to accelerate the development of the automotive industry, with a focus on green mobility promotions, sustainable industrial growth and local component manufacturing.
During the discussion, the NADDC boss reaffirmed council’s commitment to working with the ministry of finance, and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment for innovation, knowledge and technical excellence across the automotive value chain.
Responding, the minister welcomed the comprehensive briefing and emphasised the need to evaluate tariff and protective measures holistically in the interest of the nation.

Oyedele reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting reforms that would expand investment, create jobs and deliver affordable and safe vehicle options for Nigerians, while ensuring that fiscal measures were sustainable and aligned with long-term industrial development goals.
This collaboration with the ministry of finance is critical to making the country competitive in the global automotive space.
With the right fiscal incentives and a clear implementation plan, the auto industry can unlock jobs, reduce import dependency, and position Nigeria as a leading hub for automotive production in West Africa.
