The Supreme Courtroom, on Tuesday, reserved judgment on all three appeals difficult the election of Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP) as Delta Governor.
The appeals had been entered by the Social Democratic Social gathering (SDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), the Labour Social gathering (LP), and their respective governorship candidates within the March 18 governorship election held within the State.
The Courtroom of Attraction and the Delta State Election Petition Tribunal had affirmed the election of Oborevwori, saying allegations of non-compliance and electoral malpractice in opposition to him weren’t substantiated.
The authorized workforce of SDP, APC, and PDP, approached the apex court docket asking that the governor needs to be eliminated.
Counsel for the previous Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC, Robert E, advised the apex court docket that, the Electoral Act mandates that an election needs to be annulled when delicate electoral supplies don’t have serial numbers on them.
However Damian Dodo (SAN), counsel for the governor, urged the apex court docket to affirm the judgment of the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Courtroom of Attraction, saying that, the appellants don’t have any case.
Dodo stated, that within the related electoral legal guidelines, there are not any provisions stating that an election could be annulled due to a scarcity of serial numbers on electoral supplies.
After listening to the events, the five-member panel of Justices of the Supreme Courtroom, led by Justice John Inyang Okoro reserved judgment to a date to be communicated to the events.
On September 29, 2023, the Delta state governorship petition tribunal affirmed Oborevwori’s election on the grounds that the problems raised in difficult his election had been speculative for the reason that petitioners did not show allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and corrupt practices past cheap doubt.
Dissatisfied, the appellants approached the Courtroom of Attraction, looking for the setting apart of the judgment of the Tribunal.

The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) had declared Oborevwori, because the winner of the governorship election held on March 18, having polled 360, 234 votes to defeat Omo-Agege who secured 240, 229 votes.
