Suspected herdsmen kill seven, open fire on commercial vehicle in Benue

Gunmen suspected to be armed herders invaded communities in Emblem Native Authorities Space of Benue State on Sunday, January 7, and killed seven folks.

 

The gunmen have been stated to have launched an assault twice within the council space on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

 

They first attacked a industrial car between Arufu and Chembe villages and shot at passengers. 

 

It was gathered that the attackers later invaded the Mchia group in Gaamber-Tiev within the night time and killed seven folks. 

 

A number of others have been reported to have been lacking through the invasion.

 

A group chief, Anawah Joseph who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune on Monday stated that the primary assault was on a industrial car between Arufu and Chembe villages.

Chairman of the native authorities, Rev Adagbe Jonathan, who confirmed the incident stated that seven folks have been killed whereas a number of others have been nonetheless lacking.

 

“It’s true that armed herders in collaboration with Jukun militias attacked my folks yesterday (Sunday) at about 9 pm,” Jonathan acknowledged.
