President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu over the allegation of misappropriation of N585 million in palliative funds.
Edu has confronted extreme backlash from the general public following the revelation of a leaked memo directing Oluwatoyin Madein, the accountant-general of the federation, to switch N585 million to a personal account.
The minister additionally granted funds for flight tickets and airport taxis for ministry employees touring to Kogi, a state with out an airport.
In the meantime, Oluwatoyin Madein, accountant-general of the federation (AGF), says she didn’t perform the request of Betta Edu, minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.
Madein mentioned no bulk cash “is meant to be made to a person’s account within the title of Venture Accountant”.
