The Commander of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Taraba State, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, has disclosed that troops under his command rescued 50 kidnapped victims and neutralized 100 criminals in the state last year.

Speaking during the presentation of the Crime Fighter award to him by the management of Worldview Magazine, led by the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director, Williams Ayooso, the commander emphasized the military’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Taraba residents.

He stated that the Army remains determined to create an environment where citizens can “sleep with their two eyes closed.”

He called for collective efforts to tackle the security challenges facing the state, urging all stakeholders to contribute to the fight against criminal activities.

The commander also commended journalists in the state for their balanced reporting and urged them to continue their professional conduct in the interest of peace and development.

Presenting the award, the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Worldview Magazine said the recognition followed the commander’s track record in fighting insecurity and crime in the state.

He revealed that the commander has performed admirably, and the award is presented to serve as a morale booster for the military.

Williams Ayooso, while reiterating the readiness of the magazine to give the brigade the needed publicity, announced, “This is the best way journalists can complement the security of lives and property.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Taraba State Council, Mathew Eliud Jen, said the council agreed with the decision of Worldview Magazine publishers to honor the commander for a job well done in Taraba State.

The NUJ chairman expressed optimism that the commander and heads of other security outfits in the state are doing well and urged them to continue their efforts.
