A three-time Kano State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, has commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its commitment to transformative projects in Kano and the North.
Kwankwaso expressed appreciation for the president’s dedication to completing the Kano-Kaduna-Abuja expressway and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline, both slated for completion in 2025.
He described these projects as clear evidence of the president’s genuine intent to prioritize development in Kano and the northern region.
Kwankwaso highlighted the appropriation of N95 billion for dam rehabilitation in Kano, secured by Senator Kawu Sumaila, as a significant step forward for the southern part of the state.
He also acknowledged the establishment of the North West Development Commission, driven by the efforts of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, as a landmark initiative aimed at bringing prosperity to the region.
As the newly appointed Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon Kano and APC members.
He emphasized that the appointment reflects the president’s vision for progress in Kano and the nation. According to him, the rehabilitation of major dams, including Challawa Gorge Dam and Tiga Dam, under the leadership of Hon. Minister Joseph Utsev, will significantly enhance irrigation and agricultural productivity.

“The kick off of the north west development commission with the support and insistence of the Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin which will bring prosperity to the region goes a long way in proving the concern and proclivity this administration has for the Kano people and the North West as well.”
“I say without mincing words that the Kano dams including the Challawa gorge dam and Tiga dam among others will see a boost for the betterment of irrigation under the various efforts of the Hon Minister Joseph Utsev to harness these facilities in Kano, he said.
According to him, “The calibre of people assembled speaks volumes especially with the chairman Mamman Dau Aliyu,the indefatigable managing Director Engineer Rabiu Suleiman Bichi,Tijjani Musa Isa,Hajiya Zainab Gamawa,Baffa Dandatti and my humble self would form a formidable team in promoting the yearnings and aspirations of President Bola Tinubu.”
He therefore added that “It is pertinent to note that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration has continued to manifest in it s practicality with this development.”
“I once again express my sincere indebtedness to Mr President for the appointment and also thank the National Chairman of the APC Dr Abdullah Ganduje and the Deputy Senate President,Barau Jibrin,Hon Abba Bichi Chairman of the appropriation in the house, and the teeming well wishers who had felicitated with me on this while repositioning towards the success of the APC now and in the future.”
