The Olufon of Ifon-Osun in Orolu Local Government, Oba Peter Akinyooye, on Saturday, organised a Christmas party for over 1000 children of the community.
This was as the monarch urged Christians to celebrate the forthcoming Christmas within their limits.
Speaking during the event held at his palace, Oba Akinyooye said Nigerians should not run into debt to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The monarch noted that the Funfair was the first of its kind in the history of the town, with the beneficiaries going home with lots of gifts.
Oba Akinyooye, who said he organised the event due to his love for young ones, urged Nigerians to love and assist one another.
He said, “My love for kids made me organise this Christmas party. I love to see kids merry and happy. If it is possible for me to organise this party every day for them, I will definitely do this.
“This is my town and these are my children. Seeing them here merry and happy brings joy to my heart also. I feel happy to witness the joy of these little ones.
“What I’m doing is what Jesus Christ preaches which is love. In Ifon-Osun, we love one another and at every given opportunity, we celebrate and give thanks to God.
“My message to Nigerians in this hard time is to keep hope alive and merry within their capacity. We must not go into debt because we want to celebrate. We still have a lot of Christmas to celebrate and we must know that our tomorrow is going to be better than today.
“They should always remember that there’s still a future for Nigeria, and it’s a merry heart that sees the future, so Nigerians should be merry and keep hope alive.”
