The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has called on the Senate to support Mrs. Uchenna Ubah, the widow of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, as the next representative of Anambra South Senatorial District.
Ndume made this appeal on Tuesday during a valedictory session held in honour of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, emphasising the need to preserve the late lawmaker’s legacy through his family.
The Borno senator pointed to historical precedents where the spouses or family members of deceased lawmakers assumed their positions to ensure continuity and honour their contributions.

“What I want to appeal to you, Mr. President, is that we keep the spirit and aspirations of Ifeanyi alive,” Ndume stated.
He referenced Chuba Okadigbo who after his passing, his wife, Margery, joined the Senate to continue his legacy.
Describing Uchenna Ubah as a strong support system for her late husband, Ndume argued that she would be an ideal candidate to carry forward her husband’s aspirations and represent the people of Anambra South effectively.
“Let us support the family to have a spiritual representative of Ifeanyi here in the chamber when the election of Anambra of the senatorial district that he represents comes up. This will ensure continuity and honor for the Anambra South Senatorial District,” he said.
Ndume’s appeal aligns with calls for stability and respect for the families of deceased political leaders, setting the stage for a potential endorsement of Uchenna Ubah’s candidacy.
