The founder of Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, celebrated his 70th birthday in grand style on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The milestone was marked with a thanksgiving service held at his church in Ikeja, Lagos.
The celebration was vibrant and filled with heartfelt moments, including an uplifting praise session led by renowned gospel artiste Yinka Alaseyori.
Bakare’s daughter, Fisayo, gave a Bible reading, while the event showcased musical and poetic performances.
A documentary chronicling Bakare’s life was also screened, followed by an inspiring sermon delivered by Pastor Sarah Omakwu of Family Worship Centre.
Dignitaries in attendance included Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and former Ogun State governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, and Ibikunle Amosun.
The former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Olorunnimbe Mamora, also graced the occasion.
A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of Bakare’s autobiography, The Last But Definitely Not the Least, by Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun.
Both praised Bakare’s unwavering commitment to justice, unity, and societal transformation.
Sanwo-Olu also lauded Bakare’s wife for her unwavering support throughout his impactful journey.
The reception was a lively affair, featuring performances by music legend King Sunny Ade and saxophonist Beejay Sax, alongside traditional praises and heartfelt tributes.
Speaking at the reception, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, remarked, “Every nation needs someone like Tunde Bakare… who will stand up and tell those in leadership the truth.”
The festivities concluded with a heartfelt toast and joyous singing and dancing as guests celebrated Bakare’s remarkable life and legacy.
