The APM Terminals Apapa has expanded its yard capacity to handle increased export cargo volumes with an additional 2,400 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) capacity.
The Terminal Manager, APMT Apapa, Steen Knudsen, mentioned that the enhancement allows for the handling of more non-export containers efficiently, reducing wait times and ensuring smoother operations.
He highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy to boost its export trade.
Knudsen stated that the improvements were driven by exporters’ and shipping lines’ feedback.
“The expanded yard is a direct result of this collaboration. Additionally, we have completed paving the customs examination section, enhancing the standard of the inspection area and improving cargo tidiness and efficiency,” he said.
Knudsen also noted that the terminal had achieved this expansion and pavement project with 254,188 contractor man-hours without any safety or security infractions, underscoring the terminal’s focus on safety alongside operational efficiency.
He added that the terminal is dedicated to maintaining high safety standards while delivering efficient services.
