Thirteen people lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries, in an accident along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Friday.
Kaduna Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident to journalists on Saturday.
He said the accident happened around 3 pm near Olam Farm when a Toyota Hiace with 11 passengers crashed into a Golf Salon with five passengers.
According to the Kaduna FRSC Sector Commander, the deceased have been moved to St. Gerrard’s Hospital while three persons who survived were immediately conveyed to AP Smart Hospital, Kakuri.
Nadabo urged motorists to adhere to basic safety ethics and speed limits, especially during the “ember season”.
“The road traffic crash occurred near Olam farm on Kaduna-Abuja highway about 3 pm when a Toyota Hiace marked GTG 96YA carrying 11 persons collided with a Golf Salon marked RBC 369XE with five passengers.”
“As we enter the ember season fully, motorists are reminded of the need to adhere to basic safety ethics while traveling,” he said.
