The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa has said that traditional institutions play a vital role in maintaining national stability.
Director Defence Information, Brig. Gen Tukur Gusau, who disclosed in a statement, said the CDS stated this when he received the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, a prominent traditional ruler in Delta State, in his office
According to the statement, the CDS described traditional rulers as a vanguards for national stability, just as he appreciated the monarch for finding time to visit the Defence Headquarters.
He further said the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to partner with the traditional institutions to achieve it’s constitutional mandate.
He assured the traditional ruler of the Armed Forces’ readiness to protect the nation territorial integrity in all fronts and to ensure peace and stability in Nigeria.
Speaking further, the CDS maintained that the military is willing to address all forms of insecurity in the country.
Earlier in his remarks, the Dein of Agbor thanked the Armed Force for their dedication and great services to the nation and beyond.
He commended the sacrifices by members of the Armed Forces, while thanking the CDS for accepting the apology tendered by the people of Okuama, in Delta State, over the killing of military personnel in an attack that occured in March 2024.
