The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has partnered with the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) to promote and enhance the development of agriculture in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by NANS senate’s clerk, Oladimeji Uthman on Friday, he stated the initiative underscores NANS’ commitment to supporting agriculture as a critical sector for the nation’s economic stability and growth.
According to him, NANS as a body dedicated to advocating the interests of Nigerian students and contributing to the development of the country, recognizes agriculture as one of the nation’s most significant sources of strength.
He added that the partnership with ARMTI is aimed at equipping students, particularly those studying in agriculture-related fields, with the necessary training, resources, and mentorship to actively contribute to the sector.
He said “Through this collaboration, NANS and ARMTI will work towards fostering modern agricultural practices, increasing youth involvement in farming, and addressing challenges that hinder the growth of this vital industry.
“Together, we will explore opportunities for capacity building, agribusiness entrepreneurship, and sustainable farming techniques, ensuring that students and youth are at the forefront of agricultural transformation in Nigeria.
“The collaboration also aims to address the broader issues of food security, poverty reduction, and rural development, all of which are essential to national progress. By empowering students with knowledge and practical skills, we are confident that the future of agriculture in Nigeria will be more brighter, more innovative, and more sustainable.
“NANS expresses her gratitude to ARMTI for their support and shared vision of an agriculturally prosperous Nigeria. We call on all stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and youth organizations, to join us in this effort to secure agriculture as a major driver of our nation’s economy”, he concluded.
