The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed on Thursday, launched an health insurance and cash transfer scheme on behalf of the Integrated Child Health and Social Services Award & (ICHSSA-4) project for beneficiaries in Bauchi State.
Speaking at the occasion, she said that it represents a significant stride towards fostering positive change and empowerment within the communities stressing that, “My dedication has always been to enhance healthcare services and the welfare of our people especially the vulnerable and undeserved.
“The ICHSSA-4 project aligns perfectly with this commitment, and I am privileged to partake in an event that signifies a transformative leap toward building a more resilient and empowered community.”
Represented by the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Child Development and Social Welfare, Zainab Babba Takko, the First Lady added that, “To the 955 beneficiaries of the Cash Transfer Scheme and 3,283 Health Insurance Scheme recipients, your lives are on the brink of a positive transformation. This support is a testament to the belief in your potential, resilience, and ability to shape a brighter future. Today’s event signifies not only financial assistance but also the unlocking of doors to opportunities, nurturing talents, and fostering sustainable growth.
“My heartfelt appreciation extends to USAID, Pro-Health International, Catholic Relief Services. the ICHSSA-4 project, other USAID implementing partners, and all CSOs implementing the ICHSSA-4 project in Bauchi State.
“Your unwavering dedication to our people’s well-being is commendable, and I am confident that the positive impact of today’s initiatives will resonate for years to come.”
Also speaking, the State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau appreciated the Health Insurance and Start-up Kits distribution under the USAID Integrated Child Health and Social Services Project saying,”This initiative marks a significant milestone in our collective effort to suppor vulnerable household, particularly those affected by HIV in Bauchi State.”
Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr Barde, the Deputy Governor stated that, “We are here not just to launch a program, but to uplift lives, restore hope, and empower families. The provision of health insurance is a crucial step in ensuring that our most vulnerable citizens can access the healthcare they need without the burden of financial strain. By removing these barriers, we are paving the way for healthier society and brighter future.”
According to him,”The vocational skills training and start-up kits that will accompany this health insurance are equally vital. It represent an opportunity for self-sufficiency and resilience, enabling individuals to create sustainable livelihoods.
“In a world where economic stability is essential for well- being, this initiative will empower our people to build a better future for themselves. I commend the USAID Integrated Child Health and Social Services Project for its unwavering commitment to supporting our communities. Your efforts to integrate health services with vocational training are model of holistic development, addressing both immediate needs and long-term solutions.
“Let me assure you that the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of people chosen Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, is fully committed to collaborating with this project.
“We recognise the importance of partnerships in achieving our goals, and we are prepared to provide the necessary support to ensure the success of this initiative. Together, we can create a sustainable framework that not only addresses health concerns but also empowers our citizens economically.

Some of the beneficiaries commended the programme stressing that it has positively impacted on their existence as aside from accessing quality healthcare services, it has built their capacities to be self-employed and supportive of their families.
