The Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun legislative and administrative building, which was completed within a period of six months, contains a 55-seater chamber, offices for five councilors, the clerk and three department heads as well as 30 workstations.
It also includes 15 modern restrooms furnished to support the staff members in their duties.
Speaking during the commissioning, the member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu constituency, Babajimi Benson, charged government administrators at the grassroots level to impact the citizens through the development of infrastructure, the economy and human capital.
Benson commended the leadership of the LCDA for being alive to its responsibilities in terms of infrastructural development, urging local administrators to brace up for more work with the approval of the local government autonomy.
In an address, the chairman of the LCDA, Daini, said the project was a testament to his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for effective governance.
He said the building was designed to be a hub for legislative and administrative activities and for the promotion of collaboration and innovation.
“I am proud to say that this project was awarded for completion within 12 months, but through sheer determination and hard work, we have delivered it in just six months without any loan or debt.
“As this administration concludes its second term, this building is celebrated as a key achievement, reflecting the ongoing efforts to enhance community services,” Daini said.
He expressed gratitude to everyone involved in bringing the project to fruition and emphasised that the new building would serve as a catalyst for future progress.
“This structure symbolises our dedication to serving the community and will support our continued efforts to improve the lives of the citizens,“ he stated.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, commended the leadership of the LCDA for demonstrating the ideals of the progressives in Lagos and Nigeria which are hinged on delivering dividents of democracy to the people.
The Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, congratulated the chairman and people of Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA.
“Everybody knows that the engine room of any democracy are the lawmakers, without whom there is no democracy, and for the chairman to have thought about putting this building together to provide a conducive working environment for the legislators, he has really done well.
“I also believe that the councillors that will be using this building will perform their duties as expected,” Meranda said.
