Opposition political parties have begun consultations with their presidential candidates to implement resolutions reached at the G100 Opposition Summit ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Salihu Moh. Lukman on behalf of the coalition parties on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
According to the statement, national chairmen and national secretaries of six opposition parties met with the presidential candidates of five of the parties.
The parties involved are the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

The presidential candidates involved in the consultations are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, Governor Seyi Makinde of the APM, Mr Peter Obi of the NDC, Prince Adewole Adebayo of the SDP and Mr Donald Duke of the PRP.
Lukman said the consultations were part of efforts to implement the resolutions of the G100 Opposition Summit, which called for sustained dialogue, stronger cooperation and a coordinated approach among opposition parties to protect multiparty democracy.
He said the engagements would allow party leaders and presidential candidates to discuss a framework for cooperation, identify areas of common ground and advance a shared democratic agenda.
“At the heart of this process is the conviction that the challenges confronting Nigeria demand serious engagement across party lines,” the statement said.
It added that consultations were ongoing and that Nigerians would be informed of substantive decisions and subsequent steps as the discussions progressed.
