Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured President Bola Tinubu of Northern Nigeria’s support for his re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf gave the assurance on Saturday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign office, where he pledged to mobilise support for the President across the region.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor said the movement would help coordinate political engagement and mobilisation ahead of the elections.
“I can guarantee the President that the North will support his second-term ambition,” Yusuf said, adding that Kano would play a significant role in the mobilisation effort.
“Kano, as the state with the highest number of votes in Northern Nigeria, would, in sha Allah, lead all Nigerian states to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a massive turnout in favour of the APC,” Yusuf said.
Speaking at the event, Vice-President Kashim Shettima said political support should be accompanied by accountability, good governance and tangible results that improve the lives of Nigerians.
“We acknowledge the economic challenges facing citizens and stress the need for the administration to respond to their concerns while prioritising security, education, poverty reduction and economic opportunities,” Shettima said.
The A4A movement is intended to coordinate support for Tinubu and Shettima across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, with former Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar serving as its national coordinator.
