The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said it is exercising its legal right to challenge the removal of its national leadership, led by David Mark, and the nullification of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Phrank Shaibu, the Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should follow the law before making any major decisions.
In a statement he signed, Shaibu explained that the judgement delivered by Justice Peter Lifu of the Abuja Federal High Court was being appealed and that the legal process should be allowed to continue.
He said: “The ADC is using its legal right to appeal. The judgement is currently being reviewed in a higher court, and the legal process needs to continue without interruption.
“We hope that INEC will follow the law and consider the ongoing legal case before making any important decisions.
“To our members, supporters, and all Nigerians who believe in democracy: stay calm, strong, and confident. This is not the end of the journey.
“The ADC is taking all legal steps to protect its rights, and we will not be scared or distracted from this duty.
“Our commitment to Nigerians and their right to choose remains strong.”
