Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has handed over the All Progressives Congress, APC, flag to the governorship candidate of the party, Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, ahead of the 2027 election.
The governor handed over the flag on Tuesday at the unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition’s candidates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The development comes amid a political realignment involving Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and some other political figures in Rivers State.
It was gathered that political leaders in the state seek to consolidate their positions ahead of the 2027 elections after Fubara’s public declaration of support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition.
While handing over the flag at the event, Fubara urged his supporters to back the coalition and its candidates, identifying Chinda as his preferred choice for the governorship.
“We have made peace in the state and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president and is the one that we are supporting.
