Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has urged the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, to call his supporters to order.
Yesufu made the call in a post on her verified X handle on Tuesday evening over alleged attacks on supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to her, Atiku’s supporters were going on what she described as a “rampage” on social media to attack Obi’s supporters.
The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement stressed that she had personally become one of the targets of the attacks.
According to her, she expected better conduct as she and Atiku had previously worked together in the same political party.
“An appeal to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to call his supporters to order. They have been on a rampage on social media attacking supporters of Mr Peter Obi. I have been one of their targets,” she tweeted.
She further said that she expected political decency and sportsmanship to prevail among supporters of the opposition figures.
Yesufu also argued that attention should instead be focused on defeating the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
