Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Zamfara State chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has conducted its substitution primaries, affirming Alhaji Muhammad Tambari S. Kaya as its governorship candidate and retaining Saratu Abdullahi as the deputy governorship candidate.
Alhaji S. Kaya Maradun emerged as the consensus governorship candidate after delegates from the 14 local government areas affirmed his candidacy on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Gusau.

The affirmation primary was conducted in the presence of representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other security agencies in the state.
The Chairman of the Electoral Planning Committee, Bello Hussaini, alongside three other committee members, described the exercise as transparent, free, fair, and credible.
Those affirmed were Muhammad Tambari S. Kaya and Saratu Abdullahi as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates, respectively.
The substitution of the AA governorship candidate in Zamfara followed the emergence of Hon. Shehu Hussaini Waziri as the 2027 running mate to the AA presidential candidate, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje.
