Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has praised the outstanding academic achievements of students sponsored by his administration to study in India.
While visiting the students at Sharjah University in India, Yusuf expressed pride in their success, noting that their performance is a testament to the benefits of investing in education.
In a statement on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor affirmed that the resources allocated to the scholarship programme had been wisely utilised, as the students had exceeded expectations with their academic results.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving education, stressing that fostering young talent is a key part of his vision for a prosperous Kano State.
“The visit has provided me with an opportunity to engage directly with the students, address their challenges, and gather valuable insights from the pioneer batch of over 400 students sponsored to universities in Uganda and India as part of the 100:1 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme,” the governor said.
The statement added that the visit allowed the governor to assess the programme’s progress, with plans to enhance preparations for future scholarship beneficiaries, both foreign and domestic, ensuring the completion of the 100:1 initiative within his first tenure.
