The Yobe State Government, through the Yobe State Healthcare and Health-related Facilities Inspection and Monitoring Agency, YOHFIMA, has shut down five private health-related training and healthcare facilities.
A statement signed by the agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr Yusuf Bukar Ngamdu, identified the affected facilities as Medical Career Guidance, Potiskum; North East Biotech Services Limited’s Public Health Consultancy Services, Potiskum; and Auxiliary International Health Sciences Academy’s IQMI International Modern School Study Centre, Potiskum.
Others are Aminci Nursing Home and Maternity in Damaturu and an unnamed radio-diagnostic centre opposite the Primary Healthcare Centre, Dogon Zare, Potiskum.
“The affected health care facilities were found to be operating illegally and providing certificates or rendering clinical services in excess of what they were allowed to do,” the statement added.
“YOHFIMA is therefore warning private and public healthcare facilities against employing products of these health-related training institutions, while those who ignored this instruction would face the wrath of the law,” the statement affirmed.
YOHFIMA further urged all public and private healthcare facilities in the state that have not yet registered with the agency to do so, as it would not accept any violation of the registration deadline.
