Afrosoul artiste, Sopuru Precious, aka Boypee, has said that working with pop star, David Adeleke, aka Davido, on the remix of the hit song, ‘Ogechi’, was the defining moment in his career.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, he stated that Davido’s global appeal and Tekno’s unique sound were particularly influential in shaping his artistic direction, noting that he admires the two artistes’ ability to connect with audiences worldwide and is striving to have similar impact through his own music.
Recalling how he met Davido, Boypee said, “The connection with Davido came through popular socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, who has been a significant supporter of my musical journey.
“Chief Priest believes in my talent and his introducing me to Davido opened new doors for me, showcasing my growing influence and the industry’s recognition of my potential.”
The singer also added that his collaboration with Brown Joel and Hyce on the song, Constantly, is another highlight for him.
He stated that he was drawn to Brown Joel and Hyce due to their innovative sound and the seamless way they blend musical elements.
Reflecting on the early days of his career, Boypee said, “I knew I was going to sing someday. I played songs often and always told myself that I would create my own sound.”
According to him, his transition from dance to music was seamless since 2015 when he started his career.
He added, “I am constantly evolving, and I believe my music will reflect that growth. My focus remains on authenticity and artistic evolution, which I believe will ensure my relevance in the ever-changing music landscape.”
