Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, during a comprehensive inspection of key road projects on Thursday, expressed confidence in meeting completion deadlines for President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in May.
A press release by Director of Press Anthony Ogunleye detailed Wike’s satisfaction with the progress and quality of several infrastructure projects in Abuja.
The projects include the OSEX left-hand service carriageway, the N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) interchange, and Arterial Road N5 from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, all set for commissioning in May 2025. At Wassa Junction, the OSEX road is on track for completion, attributed to diligent work. The Northern Parkway interchange, supervised by Gilmore, is also advancing for inauguration within the same timeframe.
The N5 project, handled by Julius Berger in two phases, covers the stretch from Life Camp to beyond several bridges. The first phase nears completion. “We will pray to God that we will utilise it,” Wike said, praising the contractor’s commitment. He noted the National Assembly approved a N10 billion virement for N5, with funds to be used before the 2024 budget expires, though full costs will be disclosed later.
Wike aligned the projects with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating, “The Renewed Hope Agenda is working, and people are happy with what they are seeing.”
Ogunleye emphasised the FCT Administration’s commitment to timely, high-quality delivery, avoiding abandoned projects. “We are happy that it will be a packed anniversary for Mr President,” he said.
