From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun State, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Akanbi, has said there was no solution to the myriads of problems confronting Nigeria because people have npt realised the need to come together and call upon God for solution.
The monarch maintained that the problems are not more than what God can solve easily but the problems persist because people are calling different gods while some others worship idols.
He advised Nigerians to stop lamentation and jointly return to God for devine intervention, saying that Nigeria is blessed enough to be living in affluence.
The monarch who noted that there is hardly any government that Nigerians will not lament hardship, posited that ungrateful to God was part of unresolved problems of Nigeria.
Speaking with our correspondent on Monday on the importance of the 4th annual Olodumare festival which was held at the weekend, Oluwo disclosed that the festival was to bring people together, irrespective of their faith, to call Almighty with one voice and stop associating idols with God.
He expressed displeasure over refusal of Nigeria to harness God-given knowledge and start refining gold and other resources to the benefit of the people.
“We are taking our people back to the days when we have power. When we start worshiping God, we will begin to use wisdom to convert gold to our own use; limestone to cement; if we begin to use our wisdom, we will be greater than America.
“It is not today that the economy of Nigeria is bad. Since independence, there is no government that people did not complain. We are endowed with mineral resources, particularly in Yorubaland. If we are not ungrateful to God, it is not the foreigners that will be taking our mineral resources to their land cheaply and be bringing it back to us with expensive price.
“Our forefathers doesn’t know any other deities. Oduduwa does not know Sango or Ogun. Our forefathers are worshippers of one God. I’m representing God,the real king. Worship is an exclusive right of God.
“Our culture and tradition in Yorubaland is devoid of deities. We must approach God directly. Kingship is to profess that the only thing that is worthy of worship is God. We are calling all Yoruba to only one God. We should not be ingrate,” Oluwo said.
The special adviser to governor Ademola Adeleke on traditional matters, Kehinde Oloke, commended the monarch for bringing people together to worship Olodumare, irrespective of their religion.
