… commends President Tinubu, Dep Speaker for establishment of Commission

From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri

The Executive Director in charge of Agriculture, Natural resources and Rural Development in the Southeast Development commission, Dr Cliff Ogbede, says the commission will work for the overall development of the South east region.

He commended President Tinubu for assenting to the bill and Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker,House of Representatives who he said worked relentlessly to ensure that the bill passed through both chambers of the National Assembly.

Dr Ogbede, who stated this when members of Ngor Okpala Journalists Forum paid him a courtesy call at his country home yesterday, said that the establishment of the Southeast Development commission( SEDC) will accelerate infrastructural development in the region.

He said all those appointed by the President to serve in the commission are people who are desirous to serve and develop the region, noting the cause of insecurity in the region is the perceived marginalization of the people.

” I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has shown that he is fair and wants peace and development in the Southeast region by signing the SEDC into law. I also commend the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu who worked relentlessly to ensure that the bill was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly. This commission is for the development of the south east and all those appointed by the President to serve in the commission are people who are desirous to serve and develop the region.

Continuing, ” what is causing insecurity is because , the people felt that they are marginalised by the federal government in terms of developmental issues. But I can assure you that with the establishment of his commission situation will change because we are going to work for development of the South East region, create employment for youths and develop our rural communities ” .
