The Ondo State government assured on Tuesday that all damaged portions of roads across the state would be repaired with appropriate materials to positively impact businesses and transportation.
Engr. Funmilayo Oluwatayo, Director of the Civil Engineering Department in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, gave this assurance, stating that the state government is committed to fixing all the failed portions of the roads on Tuesday.
Oluwatayo clarified that the state government is not using concrete materials to patch potholes but is instead using appropriate materials for road repairs.

He explained that what some have misconstrued as concrete is actually stone-base materials mixed with other components, all of which have been tested in the laboratory before use.
He also disclosed that the ministry, following Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s directive of zero tolerance for potholes, is actively working to repair all potholes on the roads.
Oluwatayo further detailed the process of road maintenance currently underway across the state’s three senatorial districts, emphasizing that the process involves cutting the failed portions into regular shapes, removing the damaged material, and replacing it with stone-base materials that have been tested in the laboratory.
He explained that after filling the failed portions, the area is compacted and subjected to traffic for a few days to ensure stability. Once confirmed stable, the surface is dressed, primed, and asphalted.
“We are committed to completing all the failed portions using this method,” Oluwatayo stated.
