The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Soun Orumogege III has emphasized on the unity and cooperation of Ogbomoso indiges in a bid to make the communities a recognized tourists and investors hub in the world
Oba Ghandi while speaking at the Fundraising dinner for the maiden edition of Ogbomoso cradles Carnival held at Eko Hotel and Suits on Sunday said one of the focus of the cultural event is to bring Ogbomoso people together and expose the economic potentials to the word.
The foremost monarch mentioned that the newly initiated Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival is designed not just as a festive celebration, but as a strategic platform to bring the community together while showcasing its rich cultural heritage and economic potential to the world.
“We are courageous, bold, and enterprising,” he remarked, highlighting the global presence of Ogbomoso indigenes and their ability to make an impact wherever they are. The Soun pointed out that cultural events were an effective means of attracting people back home, encouraging a sense of community, and celebrating their shared heritage.
Emphasizing the wealth of resources in Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi called for collective efforts to capitalize on these assets to foster economic growth and raise the profile of the region. He expressed gratitude to Ogbomoso indigenes for their ongoing support and assured them that, despite challenges, with their support, significant progress would be made towards realising the ambitious vision.
Prince William Adeleye, the chairman of the planning committee, echoed these sentiments in his welcome address. He articulated the carnival’s dual purpose: to celebrate local culture and to position Ogbomosoland as an attractive destination for diverse investors in key sectors such as agriculture, real estate, ICT, and manufacturing
“This event is a unique opportunity to showcase your products and services through exhibitions and advertisements in our special compendium at affordable rates,” he said, encouraging guests and community members to get involved and support the initiative financially, materially and physical presence.
The planning committee aims to create a carnival that rivals globally renowned festivities, inviting Ogbomoso indigenes and visitors alike to plan their holidays around this event.
In attendance were notable figures from various sectors, including engineering, healthcare, and military leadership, all united in their support for the initiative.
The call for unity, action, and commitment to harnessing the potential of Ogbomosoland resonated throughout the evening, setting a hopeful tone for the future development of the community as both a tourist and investment hub.
