The South-West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it would leverage the performances of the current governors of Oyo and Osun States to seek votes in the forthcoming Ondo governorship election.
The duo of the PDP South-West Zonal Chairman, Mr Kamorudeen Ajisafe and zonal secretary, Mr Rahmon Owokoniran, stated this while addressing journalists at the South-West PDP office, Ibadan, on Thursday.
They noted that their selling points during the campaign in Ondo would be the strides of Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke in the areas of infrastructure, health, workers and pensioners’ welfare, commerce and what they described as human face governance.
On his part, Ajisafe said Makinde’s strides in governance could be likened to following the path of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, just as he said Adeleke epitomised selfless service to humanity.

He said the PDP had a greater chance of winning the forthcoming Ondo governorship election, a position he hinged on the All Progressives Congress (APC) being in disarray and the PDP being strong across the state.
Asked about how the party intended to arrive at its governorship candidate, Ajisafe said it was keen on having a consensus candidate but noted that there would be a primary if consensus does not work out.
As of end of Wednesday, Ajisafe said four persons had purchased forms to contest for the governorship ticket of the party.
Speaking further, Ajisafe, who doubles as National Vice Chairman, South-West of the PDP, said efforts continued to reconcile members of the party in Ondo, Ekiti, Osun while its next stop was Ogun State.
On particular party members, Ajisafe affirmed that former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, remained a member of the PDP, just as he added that its governorship candidate in Lagos State in the last election, Mr Olajide Adediran had recanted on his earlier assertion about being leader of the party in Lagos State.
Speaking on the state of the nation, the South-West PDP secretary, Owokoniran, tasked the APC-led federal government to urgently arrest the high cost of food items and respect the rule of law.
For the South-West zone, he charged the two PDP governors to liaise with their counterparts in the zone to tackle insecurity and focus on agriculture’s prosperity.
