The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has urged members and supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to maintain peace and refrain from violence as the party prepares to defeat the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming elections.
She made this appeal during APC campaign rallies in Lere and Soba Local Government Areas over the weekend. Expressing confidence in the party’s victory at the local government polls scheduled for next Saturday, the Deputy Governor called on supporters to avoid any actions that could disrupt the electoral process.
Speaking at the township stadium in Saminaka, the headquarters of Lere Local Government Area, Dr Balarabe encouraged APC members to turn out in large numbers to vote for the ruling party, ensuring that they retain both the chairmanship and councillorship seats.
In response to chants from the enthusiastic crowd declaring that the APC would win by 11 AM, she urged local residents to fulfil their commitment by casting their votes for the APC chairmanship candidate, Jaafaru Ahmed, and the 11 councillorship candidates.
The Deputy Governor assured the people of Lere that Governor Uba Sani appreciates their peaceful coexistence and emphasised that the government would continue development projects in the area as long as the residents remain law-abiding and peaceful.
In Soba, where Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the former Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, is the APC Chairmanship candidate, Dr. Balarabe reiterated that Soba is traditionally an APC stronghold, and it is essential to reclaim the mandate through the ballot box. She stated that the APC would start this reclamation in the Saturday local government elections, with plans to also reclaim the House of Representatives seat in 2027.
She urged voters to come out and support Shehu, popularly known as Molash, as chairman, along with all 11 APC councillorship candidates.
Addressing his plans for Soba Local Government, Molash highlighted the infrastructural deficits the area has faced under the PDP administration. He emphasised that agriculture is the mainstay of Soba’s economy and outlined his commitment to implementing modern agricultural projects to enhance the sector. Additionally, he pledged to support the efforts of the Uba Sani-led government by renovating and improving existing primary health centres (PHCs) in the area.
Molash expressed optimism that the APC would secure victories in the upcoming election, from the chairmanship seat to all councillorship positions in the 11 wards of Soba Local Government Area.
