General Keith Kellogg, President Donald Trump’s envoy, has suggested that Ukraine could be partitioned like Berlin after the second world war.
This comes as Russia continues to hold out on accepting a truce. Moscow said recently that no comment has been made concerning its conditions for ceasefire in the Black Sea.
Kellogg appeared to suggest Ukraine could be split into zones of control, with British and French troops as part of a “reassurance force” in the west and Russia’s forces in the east.
He said that between the British, French and Moscow forces would be Ukrainian forces and a demilitarised zone.
According to the US General, America would not provide any ground forces, he claimed.
He told the Times newspaper, “You could almost make it look like what happened with Berlin after world war two, when you had a Russian zone, a French zone and a British zone.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine is yet to comment on the remarks.
