Dr. Emmanuel Abraham, an Economist and Educationist, has emphasized the importance of integrating entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum of tertiary institutions in Nigeria and globally.
He believes that this inclusion will enable students to identify business opportunities and become self-reliant after completing their studies.
Speaking to reporters at the Topfaith University campus in Mkpatak, Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Abraham highlighted the university’s commitment to skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and moral values intertwined with academics.
He stated that Topfaith University, an offshoot of the Topfaith schools comprising nursery/primary and secondary schools, was established about two years ago with a vision to prepare graduates to compete globally in an ever-evolving educational landscape.
During the tour of the university facilities, Dr. Abraham showcased various amenities, including a standard library, law faculty, well-equipped engineering workshops, computing science labs, mass communication studios, and science laboratories.

Additionally, the institution boasts skill development centres such as carpentry workshops, a bakery, and electrical shops where students are trained in wiring and electrical installations.
Dr. Abraham stressed that the entrepreneurial skills imparted to undergraduates at Topfaith University differ from those obtained at other public universities. He emphasized the importance of mindset and the ability to recognize business opportunities among students, setting them apart in the competitive job market.
“Our university is unique in this aspect. Again, we pay much attention to moral values to avoid educating nuisance to the society”
He observed that moral decadence in our society is attributed to half-baked graduates who were busy getting degrees while moral values fall abysmally.
