As part of efforts to improves on the accountability in the Kebbi State health sector, the United State Accountability, Transparency, and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity has organized three days workshop for the state health sector.
The workshop, which was held at Soul care hotels in Sokoto involves Directors in the Ministry and Departments on use of Internal control tools and Documentation memo raising in the state.
Speaking while addressing the participants, the Permanent Secretary in the state ministry of finance, Faruk Seriki, describe the workshop as very important in improving the service delivery in the state.
He said the workshop will help in improving proper internal control from the top management down to the cashier level, aimed to detect, prevent and correct some of the issue being faced in the financial transactions.
He said before now, issue of development of voucher has always been a thing of concern which he said he was optimistic that the ongoing workshop will deal with accordingly.
Also speaking, Director of Administration, Aliyu Ladan, said the training will help in service delivery as it would improve on their day to day activities in their line of duties.
He said financial officers in their different departments needs to understand the internal control and how to handle their financial records in their different departments.
In his remarks, the Kebbi State team lead, State2State activity, Usman Faleye, said the workshop is aimed at equipping the Accountants, Directors of finance and Cashiers in health sector MDAs in the state, so as to improve on their internal control system.
He said the State2State is supporting the state to improve on their allocation and expenditure in the health sector towards improvement in the health discharge in the state.
He said the training is in conjunction with the state ministry of finance on how to held the MDAs in the health sector understand how to strengthen their internal control process which has to do with retirement, processing of their memos for approval among others.
“We also want to ensure that the right monies are released for the right allocation as it being captured in the budget which will not only reduce waste but also improve more on prudency.
“We also want to ensure that this training improve their capacity on having to know how to attend to their payment vouchers, fill their cashbooks and effectively report their financial records within the ministry”
He however said the State2State will do follow up in order to ensure the succes of the workshop is not eroded and reflect in the discharge of their duties across the ministry and departments
