The United States Senate has voted to confirm South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Fox News reports that the development makes her the fourth of President Donald Trump’s nominees to win approval from the Senate.
The vote was 59–34 with all Republicans present voting yes and seven Democrats voting yes.
Noem had been expected to be confirmed comfortably, having faced no significant issues during her confirmation hearing.
Noem becomes the fourth of Trump’s picks to be confirmed, behind Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
