The Master of Social Justice Commencing Scholarship is a postgraduate coursework scholarship valued at $10,000 to support full-time students commencing the Master of Social Justice at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney.
Benefits
- This scholarship is valued at $10,000 and is tenable for 1 year for a recipient enrolled full-time.
- This scholarship is valued at $5,000 and is tenable for 2 years for a recipient enrolled part-time.
Requirements
- Unconditional offer in a Master of Social Justice
- For students in the first year of the program (ie, in their first two semesters)
- Not be a recipient of a Commonwealth Supported Place
Selection Process
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
- A personal statement that demonstrates:
- Their commitment to the principles of social justice,
- How the scholarship will support them to undertake their degree, and
- Disadvantage(s) and/or hardship(s) (if applicable).
Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate disadvantage and/or hardship based on one or more of the below:
- Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island person as defined in the University of Sydney’s Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015,
- Low socio-economic status,
- Carer responsibilities,
- Long-term medical condition/disability (including ongoing effect of abuse),
- Sole-parent responsibilities,
- Regional or remote disadvantage,
- Identify as LGBTIQ+, and/or
- First in family.
