Two Ebonyi State Local government Chairmen have been urged to resign over insecurity and incompetence in their respective areas.
The two Local government Chairmen are Chief Moses Ogodoali Nomeh Ezza North and Mrs Euphemia Nwali for Ezza South Council Areas.
Mr Peter Nworie, an indigene of the area told Arogidigba Global Journal that the return of insecurity at Onueke, the local government Headquarters of Ezza South and the neighbouring communities has resulted in the senseless and gruesome killing of youths.
Another indigene of the Area, John Nwafor, called on the state governor, Francis Nwifuru to beef up security in the Area to save the lives and property of the people.
According to them, the areas need urgent, proactive and patriotic actions of the relevant authorities saddled with the responsibility of securing the lives and property of the people of Ezza North and South.
He said, ”Globally, the primary responsibility of every government at all levels is the protection of the lives and property of the citizens
”Unfortunately, it seems to be different in Ezza North and South as no action or step has been taken by the Chief Executives of the two Local Government Areas to nip in the board, the dastardly acts of the apostles of doom.
”Recall that during Christmas, there were serious security issues at Onueke, the LGA headquarters of Ezza South that claimed many lives.
”In just about two months, many lives were lost in Oriuzor, the neighbouring community to insecurity and youth restiveness. Now, Onueke is boiling again and has remained a go area, he said.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that the news coming out from the area has it that more lives have been lost.
The indigenes said, “We’re not asking for much, all we need is a peaceful atmosphere that guarantees us the safety of our lives and property. We’re not lazy people, all we need is peace to do our businesses here at Eke Imoha and go to our farms, with that we can take care of our needs and families.
“They begged the state government to come to their rescue as it is obvious that the two Chairmen have been overwhelmed.
When contacted for reactions, the two council Chairman, Chief Moses Ogodoali Nomeh and Mrs Euphemia Nwali denied the allegations.
They maintained that all the allegations against them were politically motivated.
They claimed that it was the handwork of their enemies who didn’t want them for the second term in office as the next local government elections approached.
