Troops of the 1 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a suspected 25-year-old ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu, who was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines intended for the camp of notorious terrorist kingpin, Bello Turji.
The arrest took place on Friday in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
According to a press statement signed by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi of the Joint Media Coordinating Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, Shamsiyya was apprehended along with her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle rider.
“The arrest was made following actionable intelligence, which led troops to set up a roadblock that resulted in the successful capture of the suspects.
“The suspects are currently undergoing investigation by the relevant authorities
“Operation Fansan Yamma remains dedicated to dismantling all terrorist networks as well as preventing illegal movement of arms and ammunition within its Theatre of Operation.
“Members of the public are therefore urged not to relent in their efforts at providing credible information that would lead to the arrest of wanted terrorists and their collaborators.
“Additionally, the theatre wishes to appreciate the sustained local support it is enjoying from the people of the zone towards the fulfilment of Operation Fansan Yamma mandate,” the statement read.
